In this collage, Hood poetically brings together symbols that represent the period she and her husband lived in New York, or perhaps one of their visits. To do so, she compiled a postage stamp from her husband’s home country of Bolivia, a U.S. Christmas stamp featuring a painting from the National Gallery (as a proxy for her), and a black and white photograph of Central Park in New York.  She collaged these elements with scraps of paper including a classified page from a newspaper and tissue paper, and stained them in a range of blue-toned paint from deep indigo to a bright sky blue, to conjure up the frigid temperatures of late December.
