Gathering materials from her travels and close to home, Hood drew inspiration from everywhere. Here, she compiled a wide blue and orange canvas strip from one of her canvas paintings and overlaid it onto a background filled with a blue wash of paint and collaged pictures. She included a postcard featuring The Guardian Angel, (circa 1630) by Italian Baroque painter Bernard Strozzi (1581/82– 1644) from the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Other fragments include a cave-like space, atop an image of an extended white bird wing at the top, and at the bottom left, an aerial geological grid map. Hood linked symbols of earth, space, and the heavens as she explored the realm of spirituality.
