Grounded with a copy of the Declaration of Independence, Hood layered a strip of painted canvas with bold geometric shapes that indicate fireworks bursting and brightening the evening sky. Homage to the Fourth of July is one of Hood’s most straightforward collage compositions, yet it demonstrates her joyfulness and her desire for fun and playfulness in this body of work.
